Our main priority is to create a secure environment for our users to communicate with each other. We make a constant effort to minimize any spam or unwanted messages on FaceCall. It is important to note that just like regular SMS or phone calls, other FaceCall users who have your phone number may contact you, whether or not they are saved in your contacts.
These users might contact you with the intention of tricking you into disclosing personal or financial information, or spreading misinformation. Scams are prevalent and can target anyone, so it's crucial to be able to recognize and protect yourself from them.
What to look out for in suspicious messages:
- Typos or grammatical mistakes
- Requests to tap on a link, activate a new feature through a link, or download an app
- Requests for personal information such as credit card or bank account numbers, birth date, or passwords
- Requests to forward a message
- Requests for money, or demands claiming that you have to pay to use FaceCall
- Impersonation of someone you know
- Messages related to the lottery, gambling, job offers, investment opportunities, or loans
- Individuals attempting to gain your trust before soliciting personal information
When you receive messages from someone who is not in your contacts, we will provide signals in the message to help you determine how to respond. These signals will inform you whether the sender is a known contact, if you have groups in common, and if their phone number is registered in a different country. You can then make an informed decision on whether to reply, add them as a contact, block them, or report them.
