The Choose who can contact you section of FaceCall's Privacy Checkup puts you in complete control of who can reach you through the app. This essential privacy feature helps you manage communication permissions and prevent unwanted interactions.
When you access the Choose who can contact you section, you'll find four key settings that let you customize who can interact with you on FaceCall:
Messages
The Messages setting allows you to decide who can send you direct messages in FaceCall. You have two primary options:
- Everyone: Any FaceCall user can send you messages, even if they're not in your contacts
- Friends & Contacts only: Only people you've added to your contacts can message you
Groups
This setting controls who can add you to group conversations:
- Everyone: Any FaceCall user can add you to group chats
- Friends & Contacts only: Only people in your contacts can add you to groups
- Exceptions
- Never Allow: Add users who cannot add you to groups.
- Always Allow: Add users who are always allowed to add you, regardless of your main setting.
This helps prevent being added to unwanted group conversations by strangers or casual acquaintances.
Silence Unknown Callers
This powerful feature helps you avoid interruptions from people you don't know:
- When enabled, calls from numbers not in your contacts will be silenced
- Unknown callers will be sent directly to your recent calls list
- You'll still receive notifications of missed calls from unknown numbers
- Exceptions
- Never Allow: Add specific users who will not be able to call you, even if your general setting allows it.
- Mute Incoming Calls From
- Silence Unknown Callers: Toggle to silence calls from numbers not in your contacts. Calls will still appear in your call history and notifications.
This is particularly useful for reducing spam calls while ensuring you don't miss important communications.
Blocked Users
The Blocked Users section lets you review and manage your block list:
- View all contacts you've previously blocked
- Add new contacts to your block list
- Remove contacts from your block list if you wish to restore communication
When you block someone on FaceCall, they cannot call you, message you, or see your status updates.
Best Practices for Contact Management
For optimal privacy protection:
- Review your contact settings regularly
- Consider using Friends & Contacts only for messages if you receive unwanted communications
- Enable Silence unknown callers during meetings or when you need focused time
- Update your blocked users list whenever necessary
Remember that you can always return to the Privacy Checkup to adjust these settings as your communication needs change.
By configuring the Choose who can contact you settings, you create a more secure and personalized FaceCall experience that puts you in control of your communications.
